Saudi Arabia Medical
License — SCFHS Complete
Guide for 2026
Saudi Arabia’s healthcare sector is the largest in the GCC and growing rapidly under Vision 2030. SCFHS (Saudi Commission for Health Specialties) licenses all healthcare professionals — and we manage the entire process through Mumaris+.
Understanding SCFHS
— Saudi Arabia’s Licensing Body
SCFHS is the government body that licenses and regulates all healthcare professionals in Saudi Arabia. Without SCFHS registration, you cannot legally practice in the Kingdom.
The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) was established to regulate healthcare professionals across all 13 regions of Saudi Arabia. Unlike the UAE which has three separate authorities, Saudi Arabia uses a single national body — simplifying the process for professionals targeting the Kingdom.
All applications are processed through Mumaris+, SCFHS’s integrated online portal. Mumaris+ handles everything from initial registration to credential verification, exam booking, and license issuance. Getting your Mumaris+ account set up correctly is the critical first step — errors here cascade into weeks of delays.
Saudi Arabia does not use DataFlow for credential verification. SCFHS conducts its own primary source verification through Mumaris+. This is an important distinction for professionals who have previously held UAE licenses.
Under Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia is building 30+ new hospitals and significantly expanding its healthcare capacity. This has created unprecedented demand for internationally qualified healthcare professionals — particularly specialists, senior nurses, and allied health professionals.
What You Need
to Qualify
SCFHS has specific requirements by profession and specialty. Here’s the core checklist — we verify all of this during your free assessment.
Your degree must be from an SCFHS-recognised institution. SCFHS maintains a list of approved universities — some qualifications from certain countries require additional evaluation steps.
SCFHS requires a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience after qualification. Specialist classifications typically require 5+ years. Experience must be documented with official letters from employers.
All academic and professional documents must be attested through the correct chain: home country notarisation → home MOFA → Saudi Embassy → Saudi MOFA. One incorrect step invalidates the whole set.
A current good standing certificate from your home country’s medical council — confirming active registration and no disciplinary record. Must be recent (typically no older than 3–6 months).
Most professions must pass the SCFHS specialty-specific Prometric exam before license issuance. The exam tests clinical knowledge relevant to Saudi healthcare practice. We provide structured preparation for every specialty.
Your complete application is submitted through Mumaris+. Accurate setup of your profile — specialty classification, document upload, and personal details — is critical. Errors here cause applications to stall for weeks.
4–7 Months
The SCFHS Exam —
What to Expect
The SCFHS Prometric exam is specialty-specific and computer-based. Most candidates with 2–3 months of structured preparation pass on their first attempt.
The SCFHS exam is delivered through Prometric test centres. It consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering clinical knowledge relevant to your specialty. The exam is in English for most specialties.
Generic study plans don’t work for SCFHS. We provide a structured preparation programme tailored to your specialty’s exam blueprint — the exact topics, weighting, and question styles the SCFHS exam uses.
